Rock. Roll. Run.
Were you there at the front of last year’s Rock N Roll Marathon?
Ay, even if you were somewhere near the back – *cough* like us *cough* – how flippin’ fun was it?!
It’s the 5k, half and full marathons with a difference, marathons that give you a bit more umph and head banging than your usual – and its rocking up for its fourth time this May for your pure entertainment. In case you can’t picture why its 5k won ‘Best Fun Run’ in the UK, here’s a taste of Rock ‘n’ Roll: Marathon-style.
Not an expert? Not a problem.
Anyone – and we mean ANYONE – of any running ability can experience the fun that Rock N Roll Marathon promises; with the helpful choice of either a 5k, a half, or the full shebang. Those who participate on the Sunday in any of the races will complete the ‘Remix Challenge’ and earn a bonus third medal. How many medals will you get?
Sights You Want to See
There aren’t too many marathon routes which wind you up, down and around some of the most iconic architecture and hotspots of this great city. The half and full marathons will start and finish by the Albert Dock, taking in the scenic views of the docks, the rich architecture and unique sights of Liverpool’s historic commercial districts. The 5k? That’ll start at the beautiful riverfront, taking you through the vibrant city centre along the way. Oh, and did we mention you get welcomed in with strobe lights, a DJ and a medal that glows in the dark once you’re past the finish line?
Music You Want to Hear
This is one of the main reasons why runners can’t get enough of Rock N Roll Marathon. Well-known for putting on local bands and live entertainment as you leg it along the course (or saunter, whatever you fancy), Rock ‘n’ Roll certainly makes you want to move and provides an atmospheric environment like no other.
Think you can entertain thousands? They’re still on the lookout for a mix of bands and performers to wow the runners and keep them motivated – whether you’re a rock and roll band, drumming group, choir, solo artist, dance troupe, ukulele band or even something completely different, they want to hear from you. You’ve got the opportunity to play along the 5k route on Saturday 27th May as well, just apply via this online form.
Everyone’s a Laugh
Last year’s event brought record breaking numbers to Liverpool with 16,000 registrants and entries, and this year’s is on course to reach over 19,000. Picture it – 19,000 people kitted out in either animal costumes, as cartoon characters, or sporting the standard tutu wearing, wig sporting peeps. Everyone really is here for a good time. Who knows, you might even meet a running buddy or bump into an old mate of yours.
You get goodies. Lots of goodies.
One incentive is good. Four incentives are better. If you feel yourself struggling at any point through the course, keep your imagination firmly fixed on the massive medal, Official Race Tee, free beer and amazing concert that you’ll be awarded at the end. Go guys, go!
