Treat Yer Ma ❤

Treat Yer Ma ❤

Let’s be honest, you should be treating your mum everyday. If you’re lucky enough to have her around, your mum deserves to be spoilt. Make this Mother’s day in Liverpool your best yet. We’ve got a few ideas for the perfect treat, from a night out to the perfect gift to make her smile.

Take her out for lunch

Well, this is a given. If you haven’t booked a restaurant for your mum yet, get snappy. There are special lunches across the city, like the bubbly breakfast at Lunya, finger licking tasty buttermilk chicken at Yard and Coop, a free glass of champers at Malmaison, and much more. Whether it’s a cosy corner in her favourite gastro pub, or the full works with white tablecloths and fine dining, Liverpool has plenty to choose from.

A night at the opera

Empire

For something a little different, grab tickets for two different shows at the Liverpool Empire on Mother’s Day weekend. There’s Puccini’s La Boheme on the Friday night and Aida on the Saturday night. A chance to don the glad rags and have a night at the opera for a real treat.

A decadent Afternoon Tea

Liverpool has some gorgeous treats for a mid afternoon pick me up, and Mother’s day is no exception. It’s a little different, as elegant or relaxed as you like. To show you the full range, go for Afternoon Punk Tea at Baltic Social for something tasty and chilled or go more decadent with a treat at the Hilton, serenaded by our favourite Liverpool singer Alan Cross.

Get your Art on

If there’s a gang of you, or just two, an art exhibition is the perfect way to spend a long, leisurely Sunday afternoon together. There’s plenty on in Liverpool, we don’t need to tell you that. But mums will love Victoria Treasures at the Walker Art Gallery with over 60 classic works on show.

Explore some history

Bluecoat is 300 years old this year. Obviously, save the age jokes on Mother’s Day, as that might not go down well, but the weekend of the 25 March and 26 March there’s a family heritage weekend at Bluecoat. Artist studios will be open, there’s exhibitions, talks and creative workshops. A lovely day out for the whole family.

Buy a special handmade gift

jhgh

Choosing the perfect Mother’s Day gift is hard. We used to make the present that came straight from the heart. But often, as we get older, this gets harder. You can still buy something handmade, just not necessarily made by your hand. The day before Mother’s Day, Saturday 25 March, there’s an Artisan Market at the Adelphi Hotel. Choose from cards, pictures, jewellery, gemstones and a whole range of gifts to make your mum’s heart soar.
