A Firm Favourite

One of the biggest sporting events in the world, the Crabbie’s Grand National is back, and bigger than ever. This year’s meeting - over three days - promises the elegance of Ladies Day, the spectacle of the greatest runners and riders, and the thrill of the world’s best steeplechase.  A drama that unfolds over four miles, three furlongs and about 110 yards.

“Being at Aintree Racecourse, it’s also an event which belongs to the people of Liverpool and brings great benefit to the city,” says the Jockey Club’s John Baker. “It attracts a global TV audience of 600 million and over the three days it attracts huge numbers of visitors and gives a significant boost to the city.”

“We’re offering its biggest ever prize pot - £1 million, with the rewards stretching down to the 10th home. It is by far the highest amount of money that any chase outside Japan can boast,” he says.

But the big question is - what would your horse be called? Check out Aintree’s amusing Name Generator here: Us? We’re on Majestic Tabasco, in shocking pink.

Crabbies Grand National takes place from 7th - 9th April.
