MCM Comic Con Liverpool

Comic Con Returns!!!

A hit with the fans and critics alike, drawing blockbusting crowds and shifting a fair load of merchandise, like most great comic properties, a sequel to Liverpool’s first MCM Comic Con was kind of inevitable.

But wait, there’s more good news, fan-boys and girls will be thrilled to discover that a further trilogy has just been green-lit,  keeping the two-day event in the city for the next decade.

“Thousands of fans got into the true spirit of the event…”

Last March more than 23,000 super-fans came out in force at Exhibition Centre Liverpool to celebrate the world of cult entertainment and Sci-Fi.

The follow-up event will take place on March 11 and 12, 2017 and every year up until 2020.

Gary Burns, European PR and content development, told us that the strong reaction of Liverpool fans was what clinched the deal.

“This was the first outing for MCM Comic Con in Liverpool and the reaction from visitors was phenomenal.

MCM Comic Con, Liverpool, March 2016

“Thousands of fans got into the true spirit of the event. If it wasn’t for Exhibition Centre Liverpool we wouldn’t have been able to host the city’s first ever Comic Con, therefore we were never in any doubt that we would bring the event back.

“Next year’s promises to be even bigger and better.”

The first Liverpool MCM Comic Con set the bar pretty high and was fully loaded with sci-fi stars, daring costumes and genius artists, all fuelled by fever-pitch fandom.

But *spoiler alert* Gary thinks the follow up will be an even bigger deal with eSports competitions, a bigger Comic Village, packed with even more artists and writers.

First time around, Liverpool’s cosplay game was fierce and probably spilled over into a battle or two, so you’d better get planning your super version 0.2 outfit now.
