Little faces all over Liverpool are about to light up. They like Santa, they like elves, they even like a reindeer or two. But kids love DreamWorks animation and this Christmas DreamWorks is coming to Liverpool.

The Hollywood movie giants transform one of our city’s most iconic landmarks into a magical wonderland this Christmas.

In a UK first St, George’s Hall will become home for the most popular characters from Dreamworks blockbusting animated movies, creating a ground-breaking lantern experience for the whole family.

The event, entitled DreamWorks Lights, will feature movie favourites Shrek, Kung-Fu Panda and the Penguins of Madagascar.

Fans will get to see the DreamWorks crew up close and personal in a ‘special green-screen photo experience’ all in the Grade ll listed building, which will be totally transformed into one of the biggest and best interactive Christmas grottos in the world.

“We chose Liverpool because it is an iconic city, a true cultural capital…”

Liverpool was selected by DreamWorks studio bosses, who recognised the city’s strong track record in hosting large-scale, family experiences for thousands of people.

Full details of DreamWorks Lights are being kept under wraps for now, but are expected to be released later this month. Anticipation is already building across the city for what is set to be one of the UK’s top attractions this Christmas.

Richard Hollis, who works for the UK branch of DreamWorks, said: “It’s very exciting to be able to bring our wonderful lantern experience to the UK for the very first time.

“We chose Liverpool because it is an iconic city, a true cultural capital known all over the world for its great events and the stunning location for St George’s Hall is the perfect setting for DreamWorks Lights.

Cllr Wendy Simon, the city’s assistant mayor and cabinet member for culture, said: “We’re thrilled DreamWorks has chosen Liverpool as the only place you’ll be able to see this amazing attraction in Europe this Christmas.

“St George’s Hall is the perfect place to get everyone in the Christmas spirit and will be the perfect home for these iconic characters at this special time of year.”

“We’re looking forward to seeing eyes young and old light up when they experience our large scale illuminated characters for the very first time.”

DreamWorks Lights will be open daily from November 26 until January 15, 2017.
