Liverpool Love In
Liverpool is a city of many things. A city of music, a city of business and a city of culture.
One ambitious festival unites all three. It welcomed 27,000 visitors in its first year and took home ‘Small Tourism Event of the Year’ at the Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards. It takes place over three days from Thursday 4th August and it’s called Liverpool Loves.
Liverpool Loves returns to Liverpool’s Pier Head for a second consecutive year and its jam packed with good things. So much so, it’s kind of hard to describe. But the chances are you’ll love it.
The event is organised by Orb events, the team behind Brazilica and Liverpool Pride. Josh Boyd is the man in charge and we spoke to him to find out more about what Liverpool Loves looks like this year.
Thursday’s business event has now passed, but there’s still plenty to look forward to.
LIVERPOOL LOVES MERSEYBEAT
“This year we’re going a bit retro and reliving Liverpool’s sounds of the 60s. We’re really honoured to have Merseybeat legend Beryl Marsden headlining. She shot to fame in the 60s, playing at The Cavern, alongside Cilla Black and The Beatles. She has this amazing, powerful but soulful voice, which people really respond to.
“Beryl will be joined by her house band ‘The Goldies’ with guest appearances by other Merseybeat performers like Ray Ennis, Karl Terry, Brian Saxophone Jones and Billy Kinsley. It’s a great opportunity for people who weren’t around in the 60s to experience real live Merseybeat music.

“The later BBC Merseyside session takes over from 5.00 – 9.00pm and will be headlined by Liverpool’s brilliant Tea Street Band, with support from The Wicked Whispers, The Night Café and Bribes.

“What’s great about Liverpool Loves and what makes me really proud is how the City Region pulls together to help create a programme like this. This year we have an amazing offer that’s completely unique, full of character and loads of fun. So it’s a great representation of the city itself.
